Chapter 7
How do you make a live person, Dr. Lone´s obsession?
Give a machine the tools to be able to live, experience, and not just exist as a moving and talking pile of hardware, and you will have a potential live person.
Give it a smart, blank brain. Give it a window to the world: eyes. Give it the ability to move and explore: arms and legs. Give it determination, a will to learn. Give it all that a human baby is born with. It won´t need to be built with knowledge to walk, it will learn to walk on its own. Don´t upload a dictionary into its system: speak to it, let it listen. Teach it the colors, the objects and their use
Chapter 6
I called from my room.
First!
Footsteps slowly came closer to my door and First spoke from the other side.
I´m here.
Uh I´m not feeling well. Do you think you could go out and buy me some tea?
I had been in my room for almost an hour now, thinking. But Collin would be coming home any minute and I didn´t want him to find this: me, locked in my room, terrified of First. What´s more, I was actually terrified that First would open the door to Collin and that something could happen. Something I couldn´t help. I figured I had to get First out of the house immediatel
First closed the book that he had been reading, not before taking note of the page number so he could get back to where he was later: it was almost time to go pick up Collin. He stood up from the couch holding the book in his one hand and the dictionary in the other. I had finally taken First to a friend´s workshop and could get his hand fixed by a fair price.
The dictionary was his trusty reading companion lately. He often found new words he didn´t know and he liked to understand everything that he read. The books in my library told amazing stories he had never thought could be possible and told of so many people and their lives.
