Personal reasonsOver a year ago a person got very offended by an old comic of mine and wanted to explain to me why it was offensive. When they wrote to me I had long since understood that and deleted it from my own galleries, but they had found it on Tumblr and felt it was important to talk about NOW. At first I didn't respond because a lot of things were going on in my life and I needed to not stress about it, but then they started shouting on Tumblr about it and got more people shouting at me and I finally gave in. I tried to explain to the person what my thoughts had been behind it at the time but that I no longer felt that way, but they kept going. At the same time a lot of people were writing me about minor things like if they should move to Denmark or what my opinion was about one thing or another, and I didn't respond to any of those either and some questioned me about it. All the while this person was getting all worked up and wouldn't just take my "I'm sorry but I can't do this right no
Titillation vs. SexismBoobs.Guys are fascinated by them.Through single-digit ages, they find the very concept of them hilarious, and when puberty kicks in the mere thought of lady-lumps generally causes some movement in the trouser department. These weak-willed creatures will follow them anywhere and they will do almost anything if it means simply being permitted to gaze upon them for a few moments more. The entertainment industries, from the big movie makers to the lowly art whores (like me) know this, and have played upon it for years in order to separate males from their money. As a result, mass media is awash with the female form in all manner of provocative poses and dress. Many women are fed up with this, but is the whole thing “sexist”?Well, it’s impossible and indeed wrong to say a whole industry is one thing or another. Ultimately it’s all one, big, dumb organism that simply moves with the cultural winds. It perpetuates what sustains it. It’s only when you break it
[ 2P!talia ] The Series : Episode 1:iconblacksparklesplz: Episode 1 :iconblacksparklesplz: <- I guess you remember them?I'm finally done with my first Episode. I spend more than a year on it. I know I'm not the best animator but I give my best on this...I hope I don't dissapoint someone with my work.... it's kind of difficult to give the 2P! a character. It haven't got a dub, only subtitles, because I only have one dubber who can't do everything on herown...By the way, the music doesn't fit that well I guess. It was hard to find something that fit the atmosphere....even if I got some suggestions for the Ending and the Opening I dedicide myself for that music which you can hearnow. If you want a few more informations you can go and check the description of the video on Youtube :'3I hope you like it.
Tracing gets you nowhere.I remember when I was a kid, I'd record Saturday morning cartoons, play them back, pause the image, put a piece of paper over the screen and trace my favourite characters. Now this was really hard in the VHS era, because a paused image on a VHS is usually either broken up or shakes so much that you’ll have some kind of fit if you look at it too long, it depended on how cheap and sh*tty your machine was.But I worked really hard at it, man. I spent ages getting the linework just right, I was so careful, and when I peeled the page from the static cling of the bulbous, cathode ray tube screen, the character looked exactly right on the page. And you wanna know what I took away from that endeavour? What all that effort taught me?Jack f**king sh*t.You don’t pick up or develop any skills by tracing. You don’t devise and perfect your own methods by tracing. You do not progress as an artist by tracing. All you get is a loss of credibility, especially in this day and age, bec
Top 12 Favorite Plot TypesA while ago I wrote a list of my top 11 most hated cliches. I tried to come up with an alternative. My top 11 favorite cliches, but I couldn't think of enough so I decided to do something different but similar. Have you ever had one of those plot types that you could manage to enjoy no matter how cliche and sterile they are? Those plots that have a large chance at being your guilty pleasures at worst? So, if you do know any episodes (or hell movies) that use these plots, I'd love to hear them; they don't even need to be animated. Although, each of these can and have been done badly before.Number 12: Genie PlotOne that doesn't have the third wish be "I wish I'd never met you" (with a few exceptions, like one of the Fairly OddParents TV movies, the one with Norm), which is odd because this doesn't really apply to shows like Fairly Odd Parents where reality is bended at will. The basic gist of this plot is that a normal character suddenly gets the ability to get whatever they wan

District 9 - PoHa - 02Chapter 2 - You know what they do to guys like us in prison? After three weeks, she was already feeling sorry that she ever came to study in this city, although not at all for having dumped Keith. She actually wondered why she hadn't done it before. Sure, she missed some of the affection and, well, the other stuff, but clearly it had never been worth it. Besides, she had other things on her mind now.She never called Rineke. She had thought about it. He was handsome. He seemed intelligent. Maybe he liked her. But then she always remembered the kind of company he kept and gave up dreaming. College was as pointless as ever. She didn't even like what she was studying! But her parents had paid for this year, so no point letting it go to waste
So she attended her classes, kept turning in assignments and day by day tolerated her roommate's habit of leaving her dirty laundry wherever it dropped. She liked her, of course, but they barely saw each other anyway but for breakfast sometimes.
District 9 - PoHa - 03Chapter 3 There's a prawn on my couch - Part 1The door swung open and Ana poked her head inside the dark and listened for signs that there was someone home. The place seemed deserted. It was much too early for Syrup to be home yet."Ok, come on" she helped the prawn pass through the narrow doorway, which still didn't prevent him from hitting his injured leg against the frame."Oh, jeez" she said, picking up a panty from the floor. "Sorry for the mess. My roommate's a pi
Wait, what am I saying? You're a prawn!" She threw the panty back on the ground and resumed carrying her guest.By the time they had crossed the tiny sitting room in shadows and reached the sofa, the alien seemed ready to faint. She quickly set him down on the old couch. Then she violently pulled him back up again."Wait, wait, wait! Lean here for a sec" she patted the sofa's arm to make him understand and he exasperatedly, yet obediently did so while she dashed past a door and then came back with an old b
District 9 - PoHa - 03bChapter 3 - There's a prawn on my couch - Part 2* = Prawn talkAna felt the call of nature sometime after midnight. Maybe a long time after midnight. It took her a few moments to regain full consciousness of the events that had taken place earlier that night. When she did she looked over at the prawn. He was still sleeping peacefully, though at some point he had moved and laid down to rest his entire body on the couch. Ana watched him for a few seconds until her bladder gave a painful throb and she had to get up.On her way to the bathroom she heard a snort and the prawn's breathing stopped. She turned around to see him peek over the couch's arm, looking for her."I'll be right back, keep sleeping."Ana disappeared behind a door and the prawn shifted lazily on the couch and started looking around at the walls and ceiling, taking in all the details that he couldn't enjoy a few hours ago for exhaustion and pain. A short while passed in which he kept himself entertained with e
District 9 - PoHa - 04Chapter 4 Welcome to the Space Jam* = Prawn talkAna could not deny that her experience with the prawn had affected her. In the days that followed she had no choice but to concentrate on her studies and work, which kept her very busy. And yet her mind kept trailing off and going absent as she wondered whether she should call and ask about Kyler's condition, since the wait for news was becoming unbearably and unexpectedly long. How ironic.Of course, it was not like she cared that much, but was it really so hard to at least show they still knew she existed? She had found a wounded alien in the street and taken it to her home. She had cared for it, fed it and all without asking for anything in return but a little recognition, jeez. It had been the weirdest thing that had ever happened to her. It was slightly too much to just end like that.So was that it?It was not a choice of hers to care. She didn't even think she would be waiting for a call, but t
District 9 - PoHa - 05Chapter 5 Prawn phone home"Elliot, you're crazy" muttered the boy in pajamas as he ventured into the thick, dark foliage armed with one flashlight and one pair of socks on his otherwise bare feet. The crickets chirped and the dry grass crackled, but aside from that it was all too quiet in the chilly nighttime. The boy reached a brick wall and suddenly a strange quiet gurgling joined the sounds of the night, guiding Elliot in the dark until he found a trail of footprints, three-fingered, unlike anything he'd ever seen. He followed them despite the fear towards another forest of tall dry plants and the gurgling grew clearer. Stem after stem he made his way through, and after a few steps he uncovered a creature ugly and nightmarish. The creature growled and screeched, waving its arms before it, and Elliot screamed, his flashlight falling from his grasp. All around Ana there were cries of surprise and some laughter. She jumped slightly on her seat herself. After regaining po
District 9 - PoHa - 06Breaking the habitThe clockwork collar still looked strange on Ana, as Ana's friends made a point to indicate. She hadn't taken it off much lately, except for sleeping, for example, and that implied having her mates at the university see it hanging from her neck."What the heck is that, Ana?" Gery laughed, signaling towards the dangling pieces of clockwork and needles. "Is it like steampunk, or something?""Yeah, I guess.""It really doesn't match your colors.""Where did you get that?""A friend gave it to me.""Ooh, a friend!" Sean sung. "New friend?""Yeah, it's

I think he just wanted to get rid of it. I don't really know him that well, actually.""Ana's having no trouble getting over Keith" they joked. What everybody said about Kyler's gift was usually not at all flattering, and so after a few days she stopped wearing it to class. They were right, after all. The bronze and copper colors didn't, by any means, match her usua
District 9 - PoHa - 08Prayer of the refugee"Love what you've done with your hair, Syrup."Syrup clicked her tongue and stroked the top of her head narcissistically."Yeah, it was about time, huh? Everybody was thinking it too. Blue was way too artificial. Purple's much more natural.""You're right" Ana agreed amusingly, stirring her coffee so as to distract herself from the urge to giggle. Laughing in Syrup's face would probably never bother Syrup, but just in case
They had decided to have breakfast at a cheap pub after they'd realized they had no power at home for the third time that month. Syrup and Ana ate together more often now that Syrup had taken up another job that didn't require her having to spend the nights out. She looked much healthier in her new purple hair than she had in a long time."So what of your friends, then? You're still seeing them?" Syrup asked casually, referring to the Poleepkwa and the people at PoHA, though she didn't know it."Yeah, I see them almost every Sunday.
District 9 - PoHA - 11 Chapter 11 The sharpest lives"Have you managed to speak with Rineke?" asked Josh the moment he woke up and looked over the couch he was lying on.Glenda hung up the phone with an angry bang. "No
"There was a loud grumble in response to the noise, coming from the poleepkwa sitting in a nearby armchair, who rose his head in surprise. He was wearing a gigantic hoody, fitting his own impressive size."Sorry, Michael
" Glenda moaned, stroking her tired eyes.It was early in the morning, and none of them had barely slept. Michael had spent the night there at Glenda's house with them. They tried calling MNU dozens of times, but couldn't speak with Rineke since the last time he called himself. Instead they kept receiving calls from worried PoHA members asking about the people missing."You should get some sleep, aunt Glenda" Josh said, and Glenda replied by flapping a hand in the air."Couldn't sleep if I wanted to" she yawned."< What time is it? >" asked Michael, s
District 9 - PoHA 14Chapter 14 - Follow meThey needed to hurry. The hour had probably almost passed if it hadn't already, and they still needed to get to the bridge. Michael's mate could arrive any moment and they didn't want to be left behind.Meanwhile, Ana spoke on her phone as they trotted through open ground, keeping away from the road."Ana?" said Syrup's voice. "Where have you been? I've been calling your cell phone for two days.""Syrup! Syrup, listen, this is gonna sound weird. Is there somewhere a few friends and I can stay for a few days?""Stay?""Look, I- it's kind of a very long story.""Hmm. Can you give me a summary?"Ana winced, but figured it was best not to keep secrets. Not too many
"Basically, my alien friends and I got in very big trouble and are being hunted down by MNU.""Wow" said Syrup's disturbingly casual voice. "That IS trouble.""And we need a place to

District 9 - PoHA 15Chapter 15 - A change is gonna comeMohlakeng was a small, quiet town west of Johannesburg city and precisely what they needed to go about unnoticed. Syrup's uncles' house was in a suburb in the outskirts and it had a garage with enough capacity for two cars, so that no one would even see them get out of the vehicles to get in the house.Syrup seemed to be really enjoying herself as she went out first and shushed loudly at the rest, heading for the door at the bottom of the garage that led to the house. It was dark and Ana could only hear her step away, tripping on a few metallic things. A thin line of pale light split the wall when Syrup opened the door and poked her head through. Ana followed her silently and went in after her.The house was quiet and appeared empty, but she and Syrup checked every room and closed every curtain before giving the thumbs up. Then it was safe for everybody else to get out of the cars. Amelia complained in her sleep as they struggled to get her out of th
